No Professional Engineering or Technical Advice
This section contains critically important limitations that you must understand before using our Services for any construction, engineering, or procurement purpose.
5.1 Not a Substitute for Professional Engineering Judgement
All worked estimates, reference data, grade recommendations, material quantities, cost estimates, and other outputs from our Services arecomputational estimates and informational references only. They are not, and must not be treated as, a substitute for the independent professional judgement of a qualified and licensed:
- Structural or civil engineer (for structural element sizing, concrete grade selection, reinforcement design, and load-bearing estimates)
- Geotechnical engineer (for foundation design and soil-bearing capacity assessment)
- Quantity surveyor or cost consultant (for formal Bill of Quantities, tender pricing, contract valuation, or official cost estimates)
- Materials technologist or concrete technologist (for concrete mix design, admixture selection, and quality control)
- Architect or building designer (for compliance with building codes, bye-laws, and planning requirements)
- Contractor or sub-contractor (for method statements, construction sequencing, and site safety)
5.2 Mandatory Professional Verification
Before using any worked example, reference value, cost estimate, or generated PDF report for any of the following purposes, youmusthave the results independently reviewed and verified by a suitably qualified and licensed professional:
- Structural design, sizing, or specification of any load-bearing concrete element
- Concrete procurement and ready-mix ordering where an incorrect volume could cause a structural defect (cold joint, under-strength concrete)
- Formal tender preparation, bill of quantities, or contract pricing documents
- Regulatory submissions, building permit applications, or compliance certification
- Dispute resolution, expert witness reports, or legal proceedings
- Insurance valuation or reinstatement cost assessment
- Safety-critical decisions relating to formwork loading, concrete placement rates, or construction sequencing
5.3 Admixture and Material Selection
Our Admixture Dosage Guide and related resources provide indicative dosage ranges based on published manufacturer guidance and industry standards. Actual admixture selection, dosage, and compatibility for any specific concrete mix must be confirmed through laboratory trial mixes and approved by a qualified concrete technologist or materials engineer before use on structural works. Admixture overdosage can result in complete concrete failure, and we accept no liability for any such outcome.
5.4 Material Prices and Cost Estimates
All material price ranges shown in our cost guide and reference tables are indicative market estimates based on publicly available data at the time of our last update. Actual prices vary significantly by region, season, supplier, purchase volume, and market conditions. All prices must be verified directly with your local suppliers before being used in any formal estimate, tender, or budget document.
Published Estimates & Methodology
We take great care to ensure that the mathematical formulas and unit conversions implemented in our guides are correct. All arithmetic is performed using IEEE 754 double-precision floating-point arithmetic, providing 15–17 significant digits of internal precision. Results are rounded for display purposes only, and no rounding occurs during intermediate estimate steps.
6.1 What Our Accuracy Guarantee Covers
Our accuracy guarantee covers themathematical correctnessof our estimates — that is, the arithmetic operations performed on the values you enter produce the mathematically correct result based on the formulas we have implemented. The formulas used are the widely accepted industry standard formulas referenced in IS 456, IS 10262, IS 516, ASTM C494, ACI 212.3R, and BS EN 934-2, as applicable to each guide.
6.2 What Our Accuracy Guarantee Does Not Cover
Our accuracy guarantee does not cover:
- Thesuitability or appropriatenessof any specific concrete grade, admixture dosage, reinforcement ratio, or element size for your project — these are professional engineering judgements
- Theaccuracy of reference datashown in tables (bags per m³, dosage ranges, material prices, concrete grade properties) — these are indicative values that may differ from your specific project’s approved mix design, market conditions, or manufacturer’s recommendations
- Results arising fromincorrect values entered by the user— garbage in, garbage out applies to all guides
- Thecompletenessof estimates — our guides estimate only what they are designed to estimate; they do not account for factors not included in their scope (e.g., reinforcement deduction, complex geometric shapes outside the supported types)
- Design mix proportions for M30 and above— the material quantities shown for M30+ grades are indicative estimates; actual proportions must be determined by laboratory design mix per IS 10262:2019
For full details of our accuracy methodology, verification estimates, and the scope of our accuracy commitment, please read ourAccuracy Guarantee page.

THE ABOVE LIMITATION OF LIABILITY APPLIES WHETHER THE CLAIMED LIABILITY IS BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL OR EQUITABLE THEORY, AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE EXTENT THAT ANY JURISDICTION DOES NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN SUCH CASES, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
BECAUSE OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, AND TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM — WHICH IN THE CASE OF OUR FREE SERVICES IS ZERO (0).
